Backbends are amongst the most uplifting of poses. They increase prana while teaching us to hold ourselves steadily in postures of openness and vulnerability. Backbends build strength, flexibility, lengthen the spine, tone the core and help open the hips and shoulders.

When we understand the alignment needed and the lifting sensation (as opposed to pushing), bending backwards becomes a beautiful and graceful thing.

In this intermediate workshop we will learn to approach backbends with proper alignment, refined awareness and concerted movement. We will explore some techniques for progressive (yet safe) deepening of some of the more challenging backbends, learning key enhancements to truly blossom our hearts open.
