Heart Rhythms: Drumming, Kundalini Yoga, Breath, Mindfulness
With Matthew Pickles
16 March 2019, 18:00–19:30
A mix of Group Drumming, Kundalini yoga, Breath work and Mindfulness.
We will connect to our breath, our bodies and most importantly to each other through the transformationally powerful practice of group drumming.
Absolutely no experience is necessary and all equipment will be provided. The night will start with some gentle breathing exercises controlled and guided by Tabla (Indian percussion). This will allow us to be in the room; open and receptive.
Then we'll move onto some calming movement based on Hatha and Kundalini yoga. Simple, graceful movements combined with breath work that will get us into our bodies and into the moment.
Then we'll explore the incredible Djembe Drum. An amazing instrument that any one can play. We'll go through the basics and in no time we'll be playing a satisfying groove as a group.
Once we have the groove in the bag we'll centre ourselves with a few moments of mindfulness and then we'll introduce a simple chant into the equation. Any doubts around musical ability will be evaporated as the force of the group takes over. We'll get loud, free and tribal. You can express yourself in any way you wish in the safety of the thunderous tribal energy.
Experienced players are welcome with delighted gratitude. Bring your drums.
